Marriott Bonvoy has launched a summer promotion across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa offering up to 5,000 bonus points per qualifying stay. We worked through the booking process before publishing this article because the promotion is less straightforward than it first appears.
What the Promotion Offers
Book a new reservation between June 1 and August 31, 2026, for stays between June 15 and September 7, 2026. A minimum two-night stay is required, and the offer applies to one room per stay per member. You must be a Marriott Bonvoy member to participate.
Bonus points are awarded based on brand:
• 5,000 bonus points per stay: Autograph Collection, Delta Hotels, Le Méridien, Marriott Hotels, Renaissance, Sheraton, Tribute Portfolio, and Westin
• 2,000 bonus points per stay: AC Hotels, Aloft, Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, Four Points by Sheraton, Moxy, and citizenM
• 1,000 bonus points per stay: Element, Residence Inn, Marriott Executive Apartments, Protea Hotels, Four Points Flex, and Apartments by Marriott
Before getting too excited, note that the promotional rate is not always the cheapest available rate. In several searches we performed, the bonus points came with a slightly higher room rate.
Finding Participating Properties
Marriott has created a dedicated promotion page that displays participating properties and eligible dates. Results only show hotels where the offer is available during your selected stay period.
You can also search using Marriott promo code S2449 in the Special Rates field on Marriott’s website. However, this is where things become slightly confusing.
Searching with promo code S2449 may surface other Marriott promotions that use the same code. Some properties display different point amounts or different offer names entirely. These are separate promotions with their own terms and conditions. While they may still be worth considering, they are not part of the Make Every Stay Count promotion.
What to Check Before You Book
Once you find a participating property, look for the Member Exclusive Offer tile that specifically mentions the bonus points included with your stay. The offer does not necessarily appear on every room category. At some hotels, the promotional rate is only available on mid-tier or premium room types rather than the base room. If you do not see the offer immediately, scroll through the available room categories before giving up.
You should also compare the promotional rate against the standard flexible member rate for the exact same room.
At Grand Universe Lucca, a property we have previously stayed at, the Member Exclusive Offer was priced at €606 per night compared to €594 for the standard flexible member rate. It also was only available on higher category room.
At Academias Hotel Athens, the promotional rate was €491 per night compared to €481 for the standard flexible member rate. The Amex business card rate ws even lower at €457.
In both examples, the bonus points came with a small price premium.
That does not automatically make the promotion a bad deal. In some cases, the promotional rate may include breakfast, enhanced cancellation terms, or other benefits that justify the difference. In other cases, it may simply be a higher rate attached to bonus points. The only way to know is to compare the details before booking.
Our Take
This is a classic “nice if you’re already staying there” promotion rather than a reason to change your travel plans.
A 5,000-point bonus can be worth roughly US$35 to US$40 depending on how you redeem your Marriott Bonvoy points, but it rarely justifies paying a significantly higher room rate. If the promotional rate matches the standard member rate, there is little reason not to take the extra points. If it costs more and includes no additional benefits, the standard rate may be the better choice.
That said, it is worth entering Marriott promo code S2449 whenever you are searching for Marriott properties word-wide. It takes only a few seconds to check and may uncover an offer that provides additional value on a stay you were already planning to book.
